Seafood on the Waterfront
There is no shortage of seafood in Kota Kinabalu and one of the perks of the seaside location is that the supply of seafood is constant and fresh. Just take a look at the restaurants by the waterfront, where brightly coloured fishing boats lands fresh seafood, destined for the dinner plates of said restaurants. Unfortunaly we did not try any of those restaurantants since my wife caught a bad cold (as you can read about here) and stayed in bed for the remaining days we had in Kota Kinabalu, and I really don’t like to dine alone. Well, this makes all the reasons for going back to Kota Kinabalu in the future. And all of a sudden, our stay in Kota Kinabalu came to an end.
Your pictures always tell a great story! 🙂

On hand held shots like these, I usually crank the ISO to about 3200, which for me is the absolute limit of acceptable and recoverable noise on the Sony A6000. Here the ISO was set to 4000 and the lense used was a 35mm f1.8 stopped down to f2.0 and a shutter speed of 1/60s, starting to show too much noise but still ok for a jpeg on internet.
For night shoots I wish I had a Sony A7s or A7sII. (maximum iso range 50-409600)

Thanks, the pictures look great. I have tried with high ISO but come out a little grainy, but it sometimes iMessage adds to the atmosphere.

Yeah, you have to tweak a lot in post processing to squeeze out the maximun quality, when doing high ISO shots. And as you say, sometimes it is perfect with a little grain.
