As we landed I was a bit let down by the haze. During the flight’s approach I saw that it was really hazy, but I did not expect it to be so thick that the line of sight would be about 500 meters. This is not the regular big city smog, this is smoke coming all the way from Indonesia. I don’t know the exact facts about the situation, all I know is that it’s either smoke from the deforestation process, to make new plantations, or the burning of old plantations, to make room for new crop. And as usual, when something bad is going on, nobody wants to take the blame. The Malaysians say it’s the Indonesians to blame, they in turn say that it is done by the Malaysians who own many of the plantations in Indonesia. Anyway, this is a once a year occurrence, under a limited time, but still this rendered my plans to take quality cityscape pictures useless.
